Ever wondered how a cool iPhone app gets created? Here’s how. 123dressme is an iPhone app that lets you store photos of your entire closet and then mix-and-match them using the app. You can share your pics with friends on FB and twitter, which means you can also show your friends pics of clothes you’re thinking of buying.
After winning the StartupWeekend competition with the award “most likely to create revenue 1 million Euros in one year”, Cristina and Steven decided to work on the app and bring it to life. In less then 3 weeks, by mid-November 2010 they had 123dressme up on the AppStore and hit 5,500 users in the first three days. Pretty impressive way to demonstrate demand.
Now, with version 2.1 on the store, the team report interest from a number of investors. They mention talks with large numbers of retailers, so I guess the business model will be to link the app repository to a marketplace – a fantastic idea to scale mobile fashion retailing.
The 123dressme team consists of Cristina Stoian (project manager), Andrei Gubceac (developer) and Steven Dow (designer)
